replacing old and building new
Cody and I have done quite a few things around the house lately. We have torn out the deck in the backyard. I won’t show pictures of that because right now, it’s not pretty! We have replaced the ugly light fixture that was above our breakfast table with a new one, built a garden bed (we recycled part of the deck material to build it and painted over the weird red stain on it), planted our garden, and Cody has refinished a table for me to study on. Our garden got planted this past weekend and we are growing: corn, onions, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, bell peppers, cayenne peppers, banana peppers, jalapeno, rosemary, chives and cilantro. Hopefully we will get our patio in soon, new planting beds and IRRIGATION!
this table supposedly was my dad’s grandmothers (my great-great grandmothers). It was not in the best shape so Cody was able to refinish it and put it together better than it was before so that it is now less wobbly.
Our garden bed, pre plants and planted. Cody hauled 4.5 cys of soil from our driveway to put in this bed. Glad I picked a strong one!
the light fixture before and after, which you can’t tell this from the picture but the before fixture has pink and black swirly beads on the end of the little lamp shades. PRETTY BAD!

Everything looks great! I am so jealous of your garden! Ours keeps getting put off… How big did you build yours?

its on the very sloped side of our house, so one side is actually taller than the other but level at the top. anyway, we bulit it about 5′ wide and about 16 to 17′ long. we really overplanted it but will cull some of the items out once things start sprouting. now we are trying to find someone to put in a bigger concrete patio. flagstone was much too expensive, so i think we are going to settle for a concrete patio with a cool pattern on top.
