Dear old woman who wears way too much spandex, I’m sure 20 years ago, your body looked great in spandex, now, not so much. The tight spandex shorts you wore today that gave your legs a muffin top and showed way too much hail damage were quite disturbing. Your green spandex pants yesterday…no comment. I will pitch in 5 bucks for you to buy some looser fitting shorts.
Dear man who wears the polo shirts with a popped collar and cargo shorts to run in on the treadmill…..one word…..weird
Dear woman who does not wear a bra and runs on the eliptical machine…I feel sorry for your boobs…
Dear woman who gets on every cardio machine every day and sweats profusely so it looks like a small lake every time you leave somewhere…..this is gross.
Sincerely, annoyed gym-goer
This past weekend, Cody and I finally got back to Austin. We hadn’t been there since we left last May. It was good to see friends and eat at some good places we had missed! We also got to go to a beautiful wedding, Liz and Matt’s! It was too much fun tearing up the dancefloor and having drinks with good friends.
I also got to see the second phase of the Domain that has just opened. It was very cool! Perfect example of landscape architecture at work.
Here’s pictures from our girls trip aka Liz’s bachelorette party, thanks to Dani for sending these to us. We had a great time in Fredericksburg, ate way too much, saw lots of sights and stayed in the cutest little B&B! Love my girls!
Our fabulous B&B….
the picture at the B&B that Liz and I questioned….
We finally have a bigger patio, we added approximately 250 more sf! We destroyed the deck a few weeks ago and found a person (who was reasonable) to install a new concrete patio. Its curing now but looks good! Can’t wait to start planting in our pots and putting cute things in our landscape beds, finding patio furniture etc. Here’s a few before and after pics!
I made a little Texas roadtrip this weekend meeting some good girlfriends in Fredericksburg. along the way I took in some sights and made a quick trip home to Menard (got to see my two cousins who are absolutely hilarious.) These pictures are of my travels and the people I saw, some pics from the girls trip will be added on later.
So its March 20th, yesterday the sun was shining. Our seeds in our garden were in full “sprout” mode and it was absolutely beautiful. Today, nasty, rainy, snowy/sleet crap. Our poor garden. We did cover it, hoping to salavage some of the vegetables. We will see how destructive mother nature was tomorrow when we unveil it.
On a better note, we finally have a computer at the house again. Watch out for all those anti-virus viruses. They completely took out our computer in one fail swoop. Not sure about the whole itunes, transfering data etc right now, but I am typing on a beautiful gateway 17″ laptop and its absolutely amazing how much faster it is than our old Dell.
Since it was too gross to really do anything, I got bored and decided to make cookies. Its a really simpled sugar cookie recipe. I’m sure they were loaded with calories looking at the contents of the recipe and the icing mixture I made up in the process, but they were pretty good. Cody also decided to help me decorate, making a self portrait and mixing several colors together…..my starving artist ;0)
Cody and I have done quite a few things around the house lately. We have torn out the deck in the backyard. I won’t show pictures of that because right now, it’s not pretty! We have replaced the ugly light fixture that was above our breakfast table with a new one, built a garden bed (we recycled part of the deck material to build it and painted over the weird red stain on it), planted our garden, and Cody has refinished a table for me to study on. Our garden got planted this past weekend and we are growing: corn, onions, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, bell peppers, cayenne peppers, banana peppers, jalapeno, rosemary, chives and cilantro. Hopefully we will get our patio in soon, new planting beds and IRRIGATION!
this table supposedly was my dad’s grandmothers (my great-great grandmothers). It was not in the best shape so Cody was able to refinish it and put it together better than it was before so that it is now less wobbly.
Our garden bed, pre plants and planted. Cody hauled 4.5 cys of soil from our driveway to put in this bed. Glad I picked a strong one!
the light fixture before and after, which you can’t tell this from the picture but the before fixture has pink and black swirly beads on the end of the little lamp shades. PRETTY BAD!
The things I miss about Austin today
- Taco Deli Breakfast tacos….mmmmm green sauce
- Changos (specifically the sauce and their fish tacos)
- Thirsty Thursdays!
- Z-Tejas (catfish beniets with jalapeno tartar sauce and their margarittas!)
- GNS lounge
- Cool trails by our house
- Kerby Lane’s Pumpkin Pancakes
- HUTS – Fat’s Domino Burger and a Lone Star Beer
- the funny homeless guy who had the most awesome signs like “why live in a 250,000$ house when you can live under a $3 million dollar bridge.” or “Road rage? cuss out a homeless guy for 50 cents.” or “Family killed by ninja’s, need money for karate lessons.”
Things I do not miss
- our rent house
- UT getting shoved down my throat
This website just made my day. Its the funniest thing I’ve ever seen or read.
The best link is this one where it describes kids artwork and critiques it. HILARIOUS. I laughed so hard on some of these I was literally crying. http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=irule (be sure and click on crappy art #2 for the entire list)
when it looks like this outside….
nothing better than a little tortilla soup….
This is a great recipe that I have been adding on for the last few months. The secret is using a rotisserie chicken from HEB, Albertsons, Kroger, Wal Mart….whatever you have close to you. Instead of having to cook it when you get home late, it’s so easy to pick one up on your way home from work or the gym etc. For $4 it is the thing that makes it so good. Plus all the goodies you can add. On this one I added Hominy, Corn, Cilantro and onions – very yummy.
